1989CMC Markets was founded by Peter CruddasWhen "Currency Management Corporation", later abbreviated to CMC, first began trading in London as an FX broker, the office contained one desk, one telephone and one highly ambitious trader and entrepreneur.

I wanted retail investors and traders to get the same terms as the large institutions like hedge funds."

1996CMC Markets launched the world's first online retail FX trading platformThis allowed clients to take advantage of markets previously only accessible to institutional traders.
1998Andrew West Stockbroking was foundedThis development would later become pivotal in establishing CMC Markets Stockbroking in 2008.
2000Online share-trading was launchedThe company expanded to become a CFD broker. This underlined a commitment to offering the most competitive and innovative products to retail clients globally.
2007CMC Markets officially opened its office in SingaporeThe office started with fewer than 20 staff and quickly grew to be one of the leading CFD and FX trading provider in the Singapore market.

2009 - 2017Launched 7 white label partnerships with banksDuring this period, CMC Markets successfully launched multiple partnerships. It also won multiple awards including Financial Provider of the Year (Shares magazine).
2016CMC Markets was listed on the London Stock ExchangeIt was listed as CMCX, with an initial market capitalisation of £693m.
2018Implementation of ANZ Bank stockbroking white label partnershipThis included the successful migration of over 500,000+ clients.
2023Launch of CMC Invest in SingaporeCMC Invest is set to disrupt the market by offering a platform that is built upon transparency, and a heritage that spans more than 30 years. This initiative forms part of a 3-year strategic plan announced by CMC Markets to expand the Group's successful Invest platform, which endeavours to make trading accessible to all.
