At CMC Invest, we do not open a CDP account on behalf of Singapore clients. We open a separate custodian account at BNP Paribas SA, Singapore for them to hold SGX investment products. It is also the requirement of MAS that client's assets are held in a segregated custodian account. Only after the segregated account has been set up can CMC Invest clients then trade SGX investment products.

As a MAS regulated financial institution, we are subject to the rules on the protection of our client's money and assets under the SFA and the Securities and Futures (Licensing and Conduct of Business) Regulations. These rules govern how we may hold and handle moneys and assets that belong to our clients.Funds in your CMC Invest account are held in a Trust Account with JPMorgan while your investments are kept in a Custodian Account through BNP Paribas and/or their sub-custodians. These are held separately from CMC assets. When the moneys you fund at CMC Invest is invested, you can be assured that CMC will never be able to use your funds and assets, even in the very unlikely event that CMC stops operating or enters liquidation. Clients' assets are also protected from CMC Invest creditors.And in that unlikely scenario, we will work together with BNP Paribas (our custodian) under the supervision of MAS to ensure the orderly transfer of assets to another licensed broker, or the return of all assets and funds to our customers. However, in the event that the selected bank(s) goes into liquidation please take note that the client moneys held in the trust account will be treated as a liability of the bank and be dealt with in accordance with applicable insolvency laws and regulations. This means that should the bank with which your trust account or custody account is maintained or other capital markets intermediaries as part of the holding chain become insolvent, you may face a delay in the recovery of your moneys and/or assets or not be able to fully recover your moneys and/or assets.
